The worlds first iron bridge, built by Abraham Darby in 1781 to cross the Severn Gorge at Ironbridge.

The old town of Ironbridge is now a part of the New Town of Telford

...brought to you from Telford, the birthplace of industry, in the heart of Shropshire

The Phoenix Model Engineering Society is situated within Telford Steam Railway and can be accessed from the platform.

We have approximately 1/5 mile of continuous 5" ground level track which is designed into two circuits of the area, there is also a miniature station and a 20' tunnel

We operate most Sundays during the summer months and try to operate most weekends from Easter to the end of September when the Steam Railway is operating

The Society is operated by its members who are Model Engineer volunteers and as such is dependent upon the availability of its members at the weekend

All funds raised from our passengers is ploughed back into our railway, we have just finished the tunnel which was extended last year and are also in the process of replacing all the sleepers and some of the track which is wearing out, we are contemplating building another shorter tunnel and a carriage shed in the near future along with the possibility of extending the track
